ideas on getting into alpha level state quickly during creative visualization

Get relaxed and in the state of alpha level is very important during visualization. Choosing a comfortable and quiet place and taking a deep and slow breath are two general suggestions on relaxing ourselves.

Many times when we begin visualization, we always hope to enter a peaceful state with alpha level as soon as possible, especially for beginners. But the fact did not always match our wish. Sometimes we will find the more eager we are; the more difficult we will feel to get into that ideal state.

In fact, we have find some good advices on how to relax and get into the state of peace in many books, for example, in the famous book Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life (Gawain, Shakti) and spiritual book Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desiresby JERRY & ESTHER HICKS. These two famous and proven effective books have lists two practical ways:

The first one is introduced in the book Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life (Gawain, Shakti). In my opinion, it can be divided into 3 steps:

a) Prepare comfortable position for creative visualization. Here means a quiet place which you can sure that you will not be disturbed during the visualization period. You can either sit or lay down. In fact, for some beginners, sitting perhaps is a better choice which will make you feel more lucid.

b) Relax your body completely. Starting from toes and moving up to your scalp, think of relaxing each muscle in your body in turn. Breathe deeply and slowly from your belly. During this period of relaxing, we can feel we are gossamer and we have not any weight. For example, when we begin relaxed, we can feel we are in or on the cloud, no any weight, and we are like cloud at that time. Pay our attention to the feeling of this gossamer and ease, you will find our breath has also become slow and gentle, with it, peace will also come.

c) Count down slowly from ten to one, feeling yourself getting more deeply relaxed with each count. In my practice, when counting down, it is better to use slow, gentle and deep tongue, in alignment with the breath.

The three steps are simple but not easy sometimes, because we cannot control our breath well. In practice, I find it is better to only pay attention to the feeling of ease in every part of our body in turn from toes. Sometimes, we can also say some affirmations during the process of relaxing in an intended gentle and slow tongue, for example “I feel I am deeply relaxed and I am in a perfect state of ease”.

There is another simple method introduced in the spiritual book Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by hicks. It says:

Sit down in a quiet and dark place and take a slow, deep breath. Only pay attention to our breath with nothing in our mind.

In fact, the key is to feel the feeling of being relaxed. Adjusting our breath is the way to the state of relaxing, not the result. In other words, if we have clear visualization in our mind, we can directly feel and visualize the image, pay all our attention to the visualization and it is ok too.

Creative visualization has been widely used to fast to success, create wealth, set up goals and so on, and we have known that many famous persons have used this powerful tool. How to carry on creative visualization? Will I must be limited by a quiet place to begin a creative visualization?

In the previous article creative visualization beginner tutorial — how it works, I have introduced some theories on how creative visualization works. For some people, these theories are only a matter of interest. What is more important to us is how to carry on creative visualization effectively.

Experienced creative visualization already?
Do you believe that many of us have experienced the process of creative visualization? It is true. Have you experienced day dreams? You just sit down quietly or stilly, look at one point or one place for a long time, perhaps giggling in your face. What are the pictures in your eyes? Everything in reality can’t be seen at that time, what you are seeing are imaginative pictures in your brain indeed. In daily dream, we can experience happy or miserable things, we can imagine us very poorly, excited, angry, lonely and so on. We just let us immersed in the imaginary.

In fact, creative visualization seems similar with day dream. The main difference is the purpose of doing. When making day dreams, we don’t intend to do that and we don’t have a clear purpose of doing that. We just let the day dream coming and going. While carrying on creative visualization, we have clear goals or purposes, such as an interesting scene, a concrete material, a beautiful goal, a lovely emotion, a good conversation and so on. At the same time, to do creative visualization, we try to control ourselves in a state of alpha wave, keep us in a good emotion and stay in a quiet place. It is us who guide our visualization to a certain direction. We all want to stay in a good state to work, study or play, while creative visualization can help us do it.

Detail steps to carry on creative visualization
Many articles have described the common steps on creative visualization. They are very useful. But some of them are of description, not practical steps. Through practice, I think an effective creative visualization will experience two stages:
1) List the thing you want before beginning a creative visualization
What you want from a creative visualization? A good conversation, a happy emotion, a pleasing job, an exciting dating, a state you want to stay while working, a good habit and so on. Please pay attention, here I mean “list the thing” not “list the things”. We must be dedicated in one thing, not many things. Of course, one thing may include some sub-things, but each of them is related. In fact, you will find that you will “fly” in your visualization and there will be so many different pictures about this thing.
At the same time, before a creative visualization, we should know what the guidelines are on creative visualization. That is to say, what details will be shown in the visualization. The details used frequently are:
(1) Environment. What environment you want to stay in? It includes objective environment in reality and subjective environment in your heart. For example, you will meet someone in a coffee house, and then you can image the beautiful place you will be in and the good mood or atmosphere you will have in such a place.
(2) Person or the center thing you will meet in your visualization. For a person, you can image his expression, his tone, his speed of speech, the emotion he has, the action his will take; for a thing, you can image its size, weight, color, temperature, shape and so on for a concrete thing or main characters for an abstract thing.
(3) The action or the state you will have. Including action, speech, expression, speed of speech, emotion, speed of action and so on.
Remember that from article:, we know that we will get the same if we think and believe one visualization. So details I list above are all parts of the things you want. They exist in the best and most beautiful result in the visualization.
The details need not to be written down. You can simply write these details of visualization down on one paper and use it anytime you want to make creative visualization.
2) Just begin under the thing and guidelines of details
With the thing and details listed, we can begin our creative visualization. Then the first question comes to us:
When and where can I carry on visualization?
Many resources on creative visualization have told us we should find a quiet place to sit down or lie down, then we should begin breathe deeply and slowly to get into a state of alpha wave. This is really a good way helping us to get relaxed and play a good base for an effective creative visualization. But we have to ask ourselves: are they necessary? If they are, that means we have to carry on creative visualization in certain situation. Creative visualization is a good and powerful tool, but with this limitation, we can’t have it used many of the time. What is the fact? To answer this question, we have to realize that the two steps are a guide for us to be absorbed and relaxed. This is the key. If you can get into such an absorbed and relaxed state in other situations, you can also carry on creative visualization. For myself, I have experienced visualization on bus, by subway and so on because I can feel ease and peace in noise. Sometimes I will make creative visualization in certain or limited time period, for example, a ten-minute period is suitable for me to carry on an visualization. So when and where to carry on creative visualization only depends on yourself. For me, I like to carry on visualization with some noise as background because I can feel energy at that time.

When you calm down and get into a dedicated sate, you can imagine what you want according to the thing and details listed in 1). You can largen and deblur the pictures or scenes you like to get more impressed. You can also pay attention to the extended details, and you can imagine the best result you want get, no doubt how you can get, just to image. Pay attention to the scenes most attractive to you and make them more clear to you, then image more details about these scenes. For example, you can image that the character in your visualization is speaking what you want to hear and doing the same thing as you like. To be more effective, you can image what you will express and do as detailed as possible.

Personal example – meeting with a strange and cautious teacher
Just half a month ago, I had to meet with a strange and cautious teacher. I have written an article on the subject which she is interested in. She contacted me through my tutor to discuss some questions about the article. I have never seen the teacher before and I have known that she is strict and cautious from the remarks of my tutor. The article written was in progress with many problems unsolved and I was eager for discussion indeed. But to meet such a stranger, I had to say I was a bit nervous.
We promised to meet in a coffee house and I rode on my bike which is one of my favorite sports to set off. On the road, with cars, buses, pedestrians around, I began my creative visualization. I asked myself the question: what I really want? The answer was I wanted to get an exciting discussing and establish a good relationship. Then I asked further: what is an exciting discussing and a good relationship? The answer to me was: discussing with good atmosphere, active questions and effective question solution. At the same time, I had hoped that we would feel comfortable in the discussing and smile to each other. At last, I began to image what I will express my answers, questions and other relative views. In the visualization, I was happy and smile all the time. I could also “see” the beautiful environment, the nice and excited expression from the teacher and the good time we would had. The whole visualization cost me about 10 minutes while riding bike.
Can you guess the next? The things were just very similar with what I had imaged. We had a good time that afternoon and we effectively discussed the questions and we laughed almost all the time. Of course, I didn’t say the same words as visualization wholly, but I had gotten the same effect as visualization totally.

Creative visualization is more a guide and preparation for a thing than just describe the thing. Through creative visualization, you can put yourself into a better state in advance and this will certainly influent others around you. All the information about the thing in your creative visualization will also be specially attracted by yourself.
