The first one is introduced in the book Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life (Gawain, Shakti). In my opinion, it can be divided into 3 steps:
a) Prepare comfortable position for creative visualization. Here means a quiet place which you can sure that you will not be disturbed during the visualization period. You can either sit or lay down. In fact, for some beginners, sitting perhaps is a better choice which will make you feel more lucid.
b) Relax your body completely. Starting from toes and moving up to your scalp, think of relaxing each muscle in your body in turn. Breathe deeply and slowly from your belly. During this period of relaxing, we can feel we are gossamer and we have not any weight. For example, when we begin relaxed, we can feel we are in or on the cloud, no any weight, and we are like cloud at that time. Pay our attention to the feeling of this gossamer and ease, you will find our breath has also become slow and gentle, with it, peace will also come.
c) Count down slowly from ten to one, feeling yourself getting more deeply relaxed with each count. In my practice, when counting down, it is better to use slow, gentle and deep tongue, in alignment with the breath.
The three steps are simple but not easy sometimes, because we cannot control our breath well. In practice, I find it is better to only pay attention to the feeling of ease in every part of our body in turn from toes. Sometimes, we can also say some affirmations during the process of relaxing in an intended gentle and slow tongue, for example “I feel I am deeply relaxed and I am in a perfect state of ease”.
There is another simple method introduced in the spiritual book Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by hicks. It says:
Sit down in a quiet and dark place and take a slow, deep breath. Only pay attention to our breath with nothing in our mind.
In fact, the key is to feel the feeling of being relaxed. Adjusting our breath is the way to the state of relaxing, not the result. In other words, if we have clear visualization in our mind, we can directly feel and visualize the image, pay all our attention to the visualization and it is ok too.
